Blicart (Pro-bono)

Globally, 2.2B people have a vision impairment. Blicart is an innovative app designed for visually impaired individuals, empowering them to shop independently via personalized assistance, store navigation, and audio descriptions, enhancing accessibility and inclusivity in the shopping experience.

Problem (Need): Phydigital solution for the visually impaired

Goal: Design an app to allow those with disability to easily navigate and purchase with or w/o having to visit the store.

Role: UX/UI research and design from conception to hand over to developer.

Understanding the User:Persona of Rebecca, a visually blind individual who has lost central vision in her eyes, she uses Blicart who gives audio directions to navigate the store (to get a cart, cashier counter, specific product category aisle) and recognizes the currency while speaking to her prices, general totals.  Sensors placed through the store, connected to the app increase ease of navigation and information feed.

Pain points: No support for assistive technologies and nondescriptive, navigable CTAs and/or physical locations.
